Teaching students about the historical components of Independence Day is part of the United States educational foundation (Spring, 2017).
Although we are not in school on this day, I spend time during the school year to discuss the meaning of “Independence Day”. I tie this topic into learning experiences in November during the elections and Thanksgiving holiday. The kids have fun with this because I get quite energetic when teaching and usually pull some kids up to help with a live demonstration of the struggles the Americans had at this time in history. I love bringing social studies to life!!
I hope you have a wonderful Independence Day celebration!
How do you teach this summer holiday to your students?
